    Also known as: NCSC-UK

The NCSC UK is the United Kingdom's national cyber security centre and part of the intelligence agency GCHQ, based in London. It publishes alerts on exploited vulnerabilities, joint notes with Five Eyes partner agencies and technical malware analysis reports with indicators.

History & facts. The NCSC was founded in 2016 and has since combined situational awareness, a warning service and incident support for government, business and the public. Its content is Crown copyright under the Open Government Licence v3.0: it may be reused, including commercially, with attribution and a link to the licence. The malware analysis reports provide hashes, network indicators, STIX files and YARA — Pattern Matching for Malware (YARA) rules.

Outlook & recommendation. Many alerts appear at the same time as those of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (USA) (CISA), the Australian Cyber Security Centre (Australian Signals Directorate) (ACSC) or the National Cyber Security Centre (New Zealand) (NCSC NZ). Anyone adopting the indicators from the analysis reports into their own detection should validate them first, as the NCSC itself recommends; hashes remain useful for detection over time, network indicators age faster.
