JPCERT/CC
Japan Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Center
Koordinierungsstelle des japanischen Computer-Notfallteams
JPCERT/CC is Japan's national computer emergency response team, based in Tokyo. It publishes security alerts (注意喚起) on critical vulnerabilities, coordinates fixes with vendors and, together with IPA, runs the vulnerability database Japan Vulnerability Notes (JVN). Its alerts often note early when a vulnerability is already under attack.
History & facts. JPCERT/CC is an independent non-profit organisation and represents Japan in international CERT networks. As a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) Numbering Authority it assigns CVE numbers for many Japanese vendors that are not CNAs themselves. Its alerts appear mainly in Japanese, some also in English.
Outlook & recommendation. Japanese vendors such as Mitsubishi Electric, Yokogawa or Omron are found in many German manufacturing and Operational Technology (OT) networks. Those who operate these products benefit from following JPCERT/CC's alerts: they sometimes appear earlier and with more precise information on exploitation than Western sources.
