Mehrere Cluster von spionagegetriebenen Bedrohungsaktivitäten wurden dabei entdeckt, eine bisher unveröffentlichte Exploit-Kits namens BlueMoon einzusetzen. Diese Kette nutzt mehrere Schwachstellen in Microsoft Windows und Google Chrome aus. Die erste bekannte Verwendung von BlueMoon wird der China-verbundenen staatlich unterstützten Gruppe APT31 (auch bekannt als Bronze Vinewood, Judgement Panda, JungleBamboo) zugeschrieben.
