The European Investigation Order (EIO) is a legal instrument by which a judicial authority in one European Union (EU) Member State directly asks a judicial authority in another Member State to carry out investigative measures — faster and more formalised than classic mutual legal assistance (MLA). Basis is Directive 2014/41/EU.
