The CIS is a United States of America (US) non-profit organisation that publishes the CIS Controls and the CIS Benchmarks. The benchmarks are consensus-based hardening guidelines for operating systems, cloud services and applications against which configurations can be checked automatically. Internationally they are regarded as the benchmark for secure baseline configurations.
