TLS
Transport Layer Security
Transportverschlüsselung
Also known as: SSL
TLS encrypts connections on the internet, for example between browser and web server (HTTPS), and uses certificates to assure the server's identity. Versions 1.2 and 1.3 are current; older versions and SSL are considered insecure. Vulnerabilities in TLS libraries such as OpenSSL therefore affect very many systems at once.
