RDP is Microsoft's protocol for remote access to Windows desktops and servers. RDP access exposed to the internet is among the most common entry points for ransomware, via stolen credentials or vulnerabilities. RDP therefore belongs behind a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and multi-factor sign-in.
