Digital forensics as a service
Also known as: DFaaS, Hansken
Provision of forensic analysis capacity as a central service rather than a local tool installation; the model is the Hansken platform of the Netherlands Forensic Institute.
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (incl. EC3) (Europol) report sees shared platforms as the way to pool tool maintenance, validation and expertise instead of duplicating them in every unit. For mid-sized companies the model applies by analogy: forensic readiness as a service is, for most, more economical than in-house staff with nothing to do between incidents.
